Everybody has them. Everybody has heard them. We all choose which ones get our attention. Some help us, some of them distract us, and some of them change our lives forever.
I’m talking about those voices in our heads, those thoughts we have that seem to pop in whenever we least expect them.
What most people don’t realize, however, is just how much control we have over our thoughts and how much choice we have as to which ones we believe.
When it comes to success, especially for entrepreneurs, which voice we listen to the most will determine if we are successful or, at the least, how successful we become.
For all too many entrepreneurs, their lack of success can easily be traced back to what they believed, which thoughts garnered the most attention. For those who do not have strong convictions when they start their new business venture, the thoughts they choose can easily defeat them.
For example, when a new entrepreneur hits their first speed bump in business, when things do not go as planned or the income doesn’t roll in as fast as desired, a parade of thoughts begins.
“I knew this would happen. I knew it couldn’t be done. I can’t be successful because I live in a small town, because I live in a big town, because I’m married, because I’m not married, because I have kids, because I don’t have kids, because I work, because I don’t have work, because I don’t have money, because I don’t need more money, because my business partners won’t help, because my business partners help too much, because I’m too old, because I’m too young, because I’m not lucky, because I’m not smart, because of my past, because of my education, because my family doesn’t support me, because I’m too busy, because I’m shy, because…………………”
In all the years I’ve talked with people about being or becoming entrepreneurs, I’ve heard just about every reason on the planet for why someone thought they could not be what they wanted to be.
Here’s the facts: Any human being can learn to do whatever it is he or she wants to do. We are designed to do amazing things, to overcome and conquer incredible feats, to learn anything we want to learn.
We also have the capacity to control our thoughts, to decide what we will believe about ourselves.
The cure for negative thinking is to feed our minds with positive information. Whether your choice is Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, or any of the fabulous motivational and informational mentors, a daily dose of positive messaging will give you the mental strength to overcome your negative thinking.
Regardless of why you think you can’t be successful, I can promise you that you are mistaken….unless of course, you don’t want to be successful, but, that’s a topic for another day……
Make it an awesome week!
