Okay, I’ll say it up front; I’ve never been a fan of talk radio. Maybe it’s because I’m a woman. I’ve always had the perception that more men than women enjoy talk radio…. which is an interesting concept in itself, given that I always thought men didn’t enjoy listening to someone talk for an hour on end……but that is a topic for another day….
Maybe I don’t enjoy talk radio because I’m really into time management, and for the life of me, I can’t appreciate spending one hour listening to people debate current events when they could be listening to something that engages the millionaire mindset.
Given an hour of spare time alone in a vehicle, I’d much rather listen to something that teaches me how to become a better person, a better businesswoman, a better listener, a better coach, a better mentor, a better friend, a better speaker, a better writer…..
Okay, I do listen to music CD’s, but only to help me become a better singer, much to the chagrin of other passengers in the vehicle who are forced to listen to me pretend to be Sheryl Crow or Shakira or a backup singer for CCR.
But, talk radio? Never. I’ve tried. I’ve listened to Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly and Dr. Laura and a list of talk radio show hosts who loved debating with their call-in guests. While I’ve picked up an interesting thought or two, I’ve never felt that those conversations added anything of value to my life.
Now, a CD on the Seven Qualities of Master Achievers, or Success and Self-Motivation, or Leadership Skills leaves me feeling I have learned something of value that can translate literally to income earned.
If talk radio could help increase my net worth, I’d be a fan for life.
I need my daily dose of business mentors who challenge me to be the best I can be, so I can then go out into the world and do something that matters.
